No. 303 - Deer Creek Field
6" x 8" - Oil on Canvas Panel
We travelled to California last month to visit my sister's family, and I brought my new "ultralight" kit along for the trip. I had a better feel for what to expect after painting a few ones last year while visiting. For this painting, I drove about 10 minutes away and hiked down near a creek.
After I found my spot and got settled in something massive jumped in the water and then swam across about 20 feet in front of me. I was already a little jumpy due to the snakes and at first I thought it was an alligator. And then I remembered that I was in California and not Florida :) I'm pretty sure it was a deer (it's called Deer Creek after all) but it still wigged me out.
