No. 257 - Morning Mist
8" x 10" - Oil on Canvas Panel
There was this amazing mist and fog the second morning of the workshop in Chattanooga. I knew I could not move fast enough to capture what I was seeing so I made sure to grab a few photos.
After getting back in the studio I was able to experiment and explore the image. With fog, you have basically no hard edges and so it's like trying to paint something that's not there. It was fun to experiment with all the colors and work on something this soft.
Here's what the scene looked like
I used a really "drippy" underpainting to loosen the edges
