No. 228 - Barnsley Tree VI

This was the sixth version of this tree that I painted and was the one where I finally started the see the hidden structure. The whole time I had been painting the tree and the bushes, etc. Here, I finally started to break down the shadows and shapes in the foreground.

When I did that I finally saw the structure of the tree shadow going across the path. I did not consciously paint it, I just painted the colors and shapes and it appeared. That may seem obvious or insignificant but it really changed the way I approached the whole thing.
